Southern Telecommunications Company (UTK) has filed an application to take part in tenders for licenses to provide telecom services using WiMAX mobile wireless Internet technology with radio frequencies within the range of 2.3-2.4 GHz.
The tenders will be held on February 25, 2010 in 9 constituent entities of the Russian Federation: the Republic of Adygeya, the Republic of Dagestan, the Republic of Ingushetia, the Republic of Karabino-Balkarskaya, the Republic of Kalmykia, the Republic of Karachaevo-Cherkesskaya, the Republic of Northern Ossetia-Alania, Stavropol, and the Astrakhan region.
“Nowadays the demand for wireless Internet access using WiMAX technology is perfectly apparent. Obtaining this license will allow us to provide our clients with the fullest possible range of services not only in the fixed-line and broadband Internet segment, but also in area of advanced wireless datacom technology”, UTK’s commercial director Ruslan Tanashev pointed out.
